When reading the Book of Ester, it is common to make noise (with a special object called 'Ra'ashan' ('noise maker' in Hebrew)), whenever the name of Haman is mentioned. Haman serves as the antagonist in the Book of Ester. His name has become so synonymous to evildoers, that even now days, Israelis call their current enemies 'modern Haman'. Reading in the Book of Ester is especially enjoyable to children, because they enjoy making noises when Haman is mentioned.
Another dowry given to Jews by the Book of Ester, is the tradition to wear costumes. During the first day of the holiday, all Israeli children wear costumes and a big parade, called Ad-de-lo-yada (until one doesn't know) is held in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. It is ordered by Book of Ester, to drink wine, even till one becomes completely inebriate, to be happy and to do foolish deeds to one another.

Hag Purim:
Purim holiday is a Jewish holiday, celebrated on the 14th and 15th day of Hadar month (the 6th month of the Jewish year). Purim in Hebrew literally means 'lots' and this name was given for an historical reason.
What is the Historical origin of the name Purim?
The name Purim is derived from the biblical story written in the Book of Esther (also called Megillat Esther). The Book of Esther is at the core of Purim holiday, and is read twice during Purim holiday, once on each day.
What is Book of Esther?
In biblical times, the Jewish people lived in the Diaspora, under the sovereignty of Persian king Ahashverosh. This king had a surreptitious and insidious councilor, named Haman, who assiduously conspired to eradicate the Jewish people. Concurrent with Haman's plot, Ahashverosh married a Jewish wife, who found out about Haman's plan, and worked tirelessly with all her might and will, to thwart his plot. This woman's name was Esther. She almost single handedly, managed to save the entire Jewish people, and for that reason, the Book of Esther, which delineates her story, is read on Purim, which is a celebration of this victorious event (the thwarting of Haman's plan and the redemption of the Jewish people).
What do Jews do with the Book of Esther?
Each year, the Book of Esther (also called Megillat Esther) is read twice – once on the 14th of Hadar, and once on the following day. The Book of Esther is treated with great respect and these Megillot (scrolls) are placed in special cases, called Esther Scroll cases. The Esther Scroll cases are usually decorative, as well as protective. It is common to find Esther Scroll cases which have engravings on them. The Esther Scroll cases aren't holy, nor are they ordered by the Bible. Esther Scroll cases are usually made of strong materials, such as wood or iron, for the Book of Ester placed inside them, to remain intact.
